The Art of Marketing - II

Just like the internet where you can get a lot of information provided that you don't get lost in the "Information Highway :) " , Marketing too faces a similar kind of dilemma. Numerous channels , abundance of events and now with the advent of social media it's getting increasing difficult for the Marketing team to keep a tab on their strategic priorities while getting involved with their day-day transactional stuff.

Given the scenario it is becoming increasingly important to marry "Process Orientation" and "Marketing" whereby the Marketing Team can list down their key objectives or deliverable, identify the different paths/routes to achieve them , do a proper risk and impact assessment and most importantly fit in every investment or activity in that broad plan.

Somebody said I chose Marketing because I hate processes :)

The Art of Marketing

It has been 1 loonnng year that I have been trying to decipher the "Magic Formula" for successfully marketing an organization it's product and services. Suddenly felt like introspecting something which has been there somewhere deep inside me, how do you define or profile a successful 'Marketing Guy' . Somebody who has got strong Market Research, interpretation and forecasting ability or somebody who can nail down any idea or though into a set of numbers ( so boring !) or somebody who can create messages and processes which can reach the right people ( Customers, Partners) .
For me the most critical and interesting part in designing the "Blueprint" an overarching term (like our Mr. Enterprise Architecture, which seems like covering anything and everything) whereby anything the organization does in terms of growth (organic, inorganic) fits into that blueprint. That for me is the beauty of "Marketing".......

Excellence - The Power Of Context

In his provocative and inspiring book , Malcom Gladwell explains "Excellence & Success" from the perspective of context. He argues that, when we try to understand success, we normally start with the wrong question. We ask 'what is this person like?' when we should be asking 'where are they from' ? The real secret of success turns out to be surprisingly simple and it depends on things like - culture they grow up in and the way they spend their time
